Amber is not a Crystal

Amber is not a crystal.

And I know nothing about chakras and energy fields.

If I had discovered, when I was researching amber and considering setting up www.teethingsos.com, that amber was a crystal, I would probably have forgotten about the whole thing.  Now, don't get me wrong.   I have nothing against anything that helps a person, especially if it is not invasive and not harmful. But the whole idea of "stones" realigning chakras involves too many unknowns for me.

I got sold on the idea of amber for a number of reasons
  • My two girls wore it and I could see for myself that it helps.  If you forgot to put it on after a bath, the babe would wake up that night!
  • Amber as a healing gem has a basis in science.  It contains succinite, a naturally occurring organic substance that is now chemically replicated for use in conventional medicine.
  • It has been used for generations throughout Europe, where it can be purchased in pharmacies.  As my cousin says "Every baby in France wears one".  There were 800,00 births in France last year.  Can all these people be daft?
  • The substance from which amber derives - tree resin - was made to heal the tree in the first place.  It is not a hard stone of mineral origin, but a warm soft substance that retains it's healing properties.
So you are dealing with a few facts here that cement the belief that amber heals.

But don't take my word for it.  Try it yourself and make up your own mind!
